Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA in healthcare administration must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Those with a cumulative GPA between 2.74 and 2.5 may seek conditional admission. No GMAT/GRE or work experience is required. Applicants must submit an online application with official transcripts.
Study Plan: AU online courses run eight weeks in length. The program can be completed in as few as 12 months with six start dates, two in the fall, two in the spring, and two in the summer. No campus visits are required. The MBA capstone course merges the knowledge and skills from the functional courses with concepts from the global strategic management course. Through simulation-based exercises, students analyze, develop, and test their solutions and improve their decision-making skills.
MBA Curriculum: The online MBA program comprises 30 credits. Those who have not taken a statistics course must complete statistical analysis, adding three credits to their program.
Core courses include behavior, well-being, and ethics; financial management; financial accounting for decision-making; global strategic management; marketing management; applied microeconomics; and MBA capstone. Healthcare administration courses include healthcare systems, special problems in healthcare management, and current issues in healthcare administration.
Online Experience: Avila University uses the Canvas learning management system (LMS) to deliver asynchronous courses for maximum flexibility for working professionals. In Canvas, students have a dashboard where they find course syllabi, grades, assignments, assessments, recorded lectures, videos, access to discussion boards, and other resources. Students use the MyAU intranet system to access the academic calendar, class schedules, advising information, and more.
AU students are assisted by Student Success Coordinators that check in every term to provide additional support. Online student services include library and bookstore services, career help, financial aid, alumni support, and technical support.
