Admission Requirements: Admission requirements include an online application, official transcripts, an electronic resume or CV, a typed, one-page essay, and two professional recommendations. No GMAT, GRE, or work experience is required, although a resume is required.
Study Plan: Courses begin in the fall, spring, and summer. Courses last six weeks each, and the online MBA in health care management can be completed in two years on a part-time basis. Students take six credits of foundation courses, 21 credits of core MBA courses, and nine credits of health care management courses. A capstone in strategic business processes rounds out the MBA program.
Curriculum: The Drake University online health care management MBA comprises 36 credits and includes three health care management courses: health care policy, health care administration, and health care regulation, law, and advocacy.
Foundation courses include corporate governance and ethics and leading with data. Core courses include financial reporting and analysis; creating customer value through marketing; leadership and human capital development; corporate finance; information technology and business; business government and global economy; and strategic business processes.
Online Experience: Online MBA in health care management courses are asynchronous, allowing for maximum flexibility. Drake University delivers courses through Blackboard Learn. The program is designed for one-course-at-a-time part-time enrollment, with six-week courses. Online student orientation and student resources such as library services, faculty office hours, admissions counseling, Academic Achievement seminars, professional and career development services, and financial counseling are available. Courses may include recorded online seminars and lectures, assignments, case studies, interactive components, discussion boards, and online chat.
On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the Drake University online MBA in health care management is 100 percent online. Students are welcome to visit the Drake University campus in Des Moines, IA, and participate in graduation.
