What to Expect from the Florida Tech Online MBA Healthcare Management Program
Admission Requirements: Applicants must submit an online application accompanied by official documentation of high school graduation or award of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), and official transcripts of all accredited colleges and universities previously attended or presently attending. Applicants must also submit official records if they have completed CLEP/Advanced Placement exams, GED college-level examinations, and/or DANTES, USAFI examinations, Regent Standardized Examinations or other advanced placement examinations. Credit hours earned from accredited schools are automatically evaluated for potential use as transfer hours as part of the formal application process. No application fee is required to apply.
Because admissions requirements are subject to change, it is recommended that all prospective applicants contact a student services representative to verify current admission requirements.
State Restrictions: Florida Tech welcomes students from various backgrounds, including international applicants and military personnel. Separated or retired military servicemembers must provide a copy of their DD-214 form as part of their application. Active-duty personnel must provide a NOBE DD2384. Military applicants can obtain assistance with the application process, education financing, and other matters via the FIT Office of Military and Veteran Student Services.
Florida Tech recognizes an international applicant as a non-U.S. citizen or any U.S. citizen whose high school degree, undergraduate degree, or undergraduate coursework was earned outside the mainland United States. Please note that “mainland US” is here defined to include Hawaii and Alaska. Florida Tech recognizes international diplomas and credits taken at accredited secondary and post-secondary institutions upon receipt of all appropriate official documentation and credentials. Students holding diplomas beyond the high school level have their academic work evaluated by the Office of Online Learning.
To apply, international applicants must follow the same process as domestic applicants but also provide proof of English language proficiency when required and English language translations of official transcripts not initially prepared in English. An approved agency must evaluate academic credit earned outside the United States. English language proficiency may be demonstrated via testing provided by several testing providers. A full listing of accepted providers can be found within the program description on the Florida Tech website.
Study Plan: Students can complete the 36-credit MBA program within approximately two years. Students interested in completing their program of study part-time or over an extended time period should contact a student services representative to verify current Florida Tech policy regarding degree study planning.
MBA Curriculum: Students complete a 36-credit-hour curriculum consisting of 21 credits of core courses, 12 credits of concentration courses and a three-credit-hour capstone course focused on strategic management. Core courses include essentials of business development (two courses), managerial economics, managerial accounting, financial management, organizational behavior, marketing management, and a directed elective course. The four required concentration courses focus on healthcare policy, information management in healthcare, legal aspects of healthcare, and healthcare planning and marketing.
Online Experience: Florida Tech’s MBA healthcare management degree program is fully online. There are no on-campus coursework or other participation requirements to complete this program. Florida Tech recognizes the value of using an online learning model to enhance accessibility and thereby broaden the pool of qualified applicants who will ultimately be able to enroll.
On-Site Requirements: As noted above, the MBA healthcare management degree is offered fully online. There are no on-campus requirements. However, students are encouraged to participate in the on-campus graduation ceremony in Melbourne, Florida if they can.
