The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Allied Health Sciences offers a fully online master of medical lab science leadership (MMLSL) with no campus visits and asynchronous online learning. Students choose an area of concentration from health administration, advanced practice, or higher education. The program is offered both part-time and full-time, and most students take three to six credits per term. UC is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The online MMLSL provides students with the knowledge and understanding of unique laboratory processes and specialized testing. Knowledge and understanding of regulations and current challenges are also important parts of the program. Topics studied may include ethics in the healthcare environment, professional roles, interprofessional collaboration, team building, reflective practice, leadership, communication styles, laboratory finance, patient confidentiality, testing algorithms, and patient safety.

Online Experience: The University of Cincinnati utilizes Canopy as its distance-based learning ecosystem. This system offers a variety of tools for faculty to deliver online material in meaningful and engaging ways. UC also utilizes Blackboard as its online learning management system.

Course materials may include PowerPoint presentations and videos, chat sessions, discussion boards, assignments, and proctored assessments. Classes are asynchronous, and students should expect to spend about three to five hours of work per week per credit taken. A variety of online services are available including faculty help, technical support student success coordinators, and career counseling.

On-Site Requirements: The online medical lab science leadership program is 100 percent online, therefore no on-site visits are required. Students are welcome to visit campus and are encouraged to attend the graduation ceremony on campus.
