What to Expect from the USCA MBA in Healthcare Administration

Admission Requirements: Admission to the online MBA program requires applicants to have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution of higher learning in which their cumulative GPA was at least 3.0. Students with international educational backgrounds may also be admitted, provided their education is equivalent to what is expected of domestic applicants. Students with a GPA between 2.50 and 2.99 may be offered conditional admission, provided they maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their first 12 credit hours of coursework.

Conditional admission may also be provided to students with a sufficiently competitive GMAT or GRE score. Such applicants’ applications will be reviewed in their totality to make an admission decision. Applicants submit an online application, an application fee and official transcripts from all institutions previously attended.

State Restrictions: USC may also offer admission to international students whose education abroad is determined equivalent to domestic applicants. However, because this particular USC program does not issue the I-20 documentation necessary for students to obtain the F-1 visa necessary to study within the USA, international students can only enroll in this program while residing in their home country.

Applicants whose undergraduate degree was awarded outside the United States must demonstrate English language proficiency. They may do so by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, or the Pearson Test of English (PTE) exam. No provisional admission may be offered based on English language proficiency.

Study Plan: This 30-credit-hour online MBA program is designed for working professionals and others who cannot easily participate in a traditional synchronous, on-campus degree program. The program can be completed in as little as 10 months. Students may choose one of six start dates per calendar year.

MBA Curriculum: Students complete a combination of core courses, one flexible core course, business analytics specialization courses, and elective courses. Students may also complete optional business foundation courses. A complete listing of all courses can be found online.

Six optional business foundation courses are available to students at no additional cost. These courses are designed to prepare students for core and advanced courses. Course topics include economics, management, finance, accounting, marketing, and statistics.

Students complete 15 credits of core courses by completing the following five courses: accounting for decision-making, business strategy, financial analysis for decision-making, management and organizational behavior, and marketing management. Students choose one of three courses to fulfill their three-credit flexible core course requirement. They may choose from business analytics, economics for decision-making, and strategic information systems. Students choose two of four courses to fulfill business analytics specialization courses. Available courses include business analytics, analytics for accounting and financial data, specialized topics in business administration, and operations management.

Online Experience: The MBA program is offered fully online. This learning delivery model allows students to complete their assignments at any time from any location and thus provides the flexibility many working professionals need to advance their education without putting their current jobs on hold. Courses are generally seven weeks in duration.

On-Site Requirements: This MBA program does not feature on-site requirements. Students can complete this accelerated program online in as little as 10 months.
