Utica University Online MBA in Health Care Management

Utica University, based in Utica, New York, offers an online MBA with a general track or one of seven specializations, one of which is health care management. Utica University is well-known for its affordable tuition, personalized attention, support from faculty and staff, and small class sizes. In addition, the curriculum for the rigorous online MBA in health care management is the same as the on-campus program, designed to impart business skills required by today’s organizations.

The learning outcomes for the online MBA include having the ability to analyze problems individually and in a team setting; understanding best practices in decision-making and the effects on organizations, both short- and long-term; and knowing key business principles (e.g., accounting, finance, economics, management, operations, marketing, statistics, and ethics). The program ends with two capstone courses designed to help students gain real-world experience addressing a real challenge in the health care setting.

Whether an applicant has a business background or not is not important in this program. All students take a pre-assessment test covering core business topics. Students without the necessary business knowledge then complete a set of self-study modules covering the topics they did not grasp on in the pre-test. Then, students are able to confidently enter the program. In addition, foundational classes give students core business knowledge necessary to succeed in management.
